An important part of Head Start’s success is engaging families as their child’s first and most important teacher. In all facets of the program, we take every opportunity to recognize individual achievement, as well as the growth families experience throughout the year. Despite the challenges of this past year, many parents took time and worked towards their personal goals. Head Start and Early Head Start home visitors nominated families in four different categories: Nancy Martin Outstanding Parent Engagement, Achievement in Family Well-Being, Achievement in Families as Advocates and Leaders, and Achievement in Families as Learners.
In May, we recognized eight winners during our 37th Annual Parent Recognition Event, our first virtual ceremony, with over 100 attendees. Home visitors introduced the winning families, offering insight into each winner’s successes. One home visitor said of a nominee “She is truly a role model and a leader, advocating for her family, working with parents, engaging in CSC programming, and outreaching for partnerships in the community. She provides endless and ongoing support for everyone she meets. She is enthusiastic, passionate, and driven, and phenomenal to work with”.
