Congressman Ryan Mackenzie Visits SafeStart

Community Services for Children welcomed Congressman Ryan Mackenzie on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. He visited CSC’s SafeStart Early Head Start at the Donley Campus to tour the program and learn more about the services we provide.Congressman Mackenzie learned about SafeStart’s powerful impact on the region’s youngest residents. The SafeStart and Early Head Start programs help to mitigate the effects of trauma and assist the development of infants and toddlers who have been impacted by substance abuse. The program collaborates with Lehigh County to provide support and early learning opportunities in partnership with county caseworkers and caregivers.

Currently, SafeStart serves 72 infants and toddlers across two locations in the Lehigh Valley.

Following the tour, Congressman Mackenzie left with a renewed sense of purpose and new knowledge of how to advocate for the program and the Lehigh Valley families we serve. He will take the impact of this visit back to Washington, D.C., to champion SafeStart so we can continue championing for local children.

We are grateful to Congressman Mackenzie for taking the time to learn about these meaningful programs and take those lessons back to our government to highlight the importance of SafeStart.
