School-Age Child Care (SACC)

CSC has administered the state-funded PA Northeast Region School-Age Child Care (SACC) Project since 1985. As one of six regional projects statewide, the Northeast Region SACC Project serves 15 counties in Northeastern PA: Berks, Bradford, Carbon, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Wayne and Wyoming.

Services available through the Northeast Region SACC Project include the following:

      Professional Development
The Northeast Region SACC Project offers workshops, seminars and courses on SACC topics to the child care community throughout the Northeast Region. Workshop topics include school-age child development, behavior management, curriculum activities and program management.

CSC has developed several SACC college credit courses that are offered by local colleges. The courses include a 9-credit School-Age Professional Credential which is taught both in a classroom format and on-line. This credential is recognized within Keystone STARS as being equivalent to the CDA for school-age practitioners.

    Technical Assistance
The Northeast Region SACC Project offers technical assistance to new and expanding SACC programs. Telephone, small group, and on-site consultation can be provided along with resource materials and referrals to help programs develop sound business plans and create developmentally appropriate programs for school-age children. In addition, the project staff will conduct an on-site assessment of SACC programs. This assessment helps to evaluate the environment, curriculum, management practices, staffing and other areas critical to a successful SACC program. Plans for program improvement are implemented as a result of the assessment process. For more information regarding the SACC program, call 610-437-6000 or 1-800-528-SACC, ext 2316.
