Family Library
The Family Library is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 am - 4:30 pm (Tuesdays 10 am to 5:30 pm). Child Care Providers wishing to schedule a group visit may call 610-437-6000, ext 3140. The Public is invited Storytime Mondays and Thursdays 10 am and 2 pm. We are closed Labor Day and similar national holidays. Check Operation Snowflake in inclement weather. When CSC is closed, so are we.
The Family Library has books, toys, musical cds, videos and dvds, child development resources, computers and internet connection, and more for families and professionals in early education and care. We specialize in young children, ages 0-5, with additional early reading books and materials of interest to age 12. Many books are available in Spanish,
Supporting the development of new child care facilities by lending equipment and materials for start-up, the Family Library gives child care professionals a chance to try new materials and resources before making large investments. It also provides access to equipment and materials that may not be available in all child care facilities.
In the Adult collection, early learning and child care professionals may conduct research as well as borrow resources, video tapes, audio tapes, and professional books. Materials on child development, child care management, and advice on helping children to grow strong, healthy, intelligent, and independent are available in the collection.
Two banks of computers with Internet access and on-site access to a laminator and a die-cut machine are available. There is no membership fee to borrow resources from the Family Library, but identification (such as a Drivers' License) is required.
We are located on the ground floor of the Fowler Building on the Community Services for Children Donley Campus, 1520 Hanover Ave, Allentown.
Parking and access to the Library are located in the rear of the Fowler Building on the Donley Children’s campus.
