Early Head Start
Early Head Start is a free educational program for low-income pregnant women and families with children birth to three years of age. Services focus on child development, family development, health, safety, nutrition, parenting and life skills. Early Head Start is a home-based program offered year-round for residents of Allentown and Bethlehem. In our home-based program, families engage in weekly two-hour home visits with their Child Development Partner. Twice a month, families visit the Family Center for group activities. Child Development Partners support families by partnering with them to achieve family goals including understanding each child’s development, practicing effective parenting skills, learning about health, safety and nutrition, and meeting goals in life that will ensure the family’s success at home and in the community. Prenatal education is provided to expectant mothers and support services are made available to all enrolled families.
