Why is quality early education important to Business?

  • Children with quality early education are prepared for success in kindergarten.
  • Success in school costs the community less money. Fewer children need to repeat grades or take remedial courses. They are apt to stay in school.
  • Ultimately, children who have been successful in school are less apt to get into serious trouble and more apt to become productive employees and good citizens.
  • Parents who can count on stable, quality early education are apt to be more productive at work themselves.

Studies all over the country prove that for every dollar invested in quality early education, there is at least a $7 return. Quality early education is a good investment!

What can Business do to ensure quality early education?

Provide resources to employees about quality early education and child care.
Child Care Resource & Referral
TOT-INFO (610-868-4636) is a free service for residents of Lehigh County seeking information about child care. Residents of Northampton County should call Northampton County Child Care Information Services, 610-419-4500 for similar information. Callers can ask

  • how to determine the quality of a program,
  • where to find care to meet their days and hours of coverage needs,
  • which providers might be able to meet their special needs, and
  • additional information about the types of child care settings.

Callers needing assistance to pay for child care can also receive eligibility information and referral to the subsidy program administered by CSC.
